J to the Webley Wednesday
November 19th, 2008
Today we are not going to discuss how many pairs of shoes Jason Webley goes through, from all that stomping. We are not going to discuss my love of Dee Snider. In fact, we aren’t going to discuss anything. This is my website. I type and you read it. End of Discussion. Unless you comment. Or something.
If you do not understand why I love the following video, well, you do not know me very well at all.
And here is a beautiful performance in Dublin:
There is no live video that is going to give you any sense of Jason Webley’s actual performance. There is a transcendence that he uses; between the audience and himself, there is an exchange: no passive viewers exist, and there certainly are some good bits of humor, so that it never becomes overwhelming. It is the perfect moment of performer and audience.
I do not know the professional levels in music. I do not understand our love of Justin Timberlake and Beyonce. My four year old son often gets Elvis Presley and Jason Webley confused. I think that pretty much explains it all. So buy some real music for once. And then, go see Jason Webley. Live. In Person. Stomping.

I wasn’t in town, so I didn’t make it, though I encouraged others to.
